Coordinator's Message
It is with great pleasure that I write this short message for the official web of the Foundation Course Unit, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya. The FND Unit in the Faculty of Arts is responsible for administrating all the Foundation Courses. The FND Unit directly offers a course on Basic Mathematics (FND 101) and a course on Law and Ethics (FND 114). In addition to this, with assistance from the Department of Philosophy and Psychology the unit offers a course on Logic (FND 102), with the Information Technology Center the Unit offers a course on ICT Skills (FND 115) and with the Departments of Sinhala, Tamil and English a course on Writing Skills (FND 103) is offered.
Since taking over the FND Unit as the coordinator, it has brought me great satisfaction to modernize the unit to suit this age of information technology. At the beginning, the FND Unit faced many challenges related to physical location, teaching aids and office equipments and lack of staff. However, with continuous support given by the current Dean, the Unit now operates with 4 staff members and state of the art equipment. Therefore, being the initiator of these changes including the introduction of this web page, I am grateful for all the support I received from the Lecturers of the FND Unit, Lecturers from other Departments and the Dean and his staff. The Unit is now well on its way to facilitate the Faculty of Arts to produce high quality graduates of professional caliber. This web site provides information on courses and results of students along with a range of other information.
