The Department of Geography at the Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya, recently conducted a field survey aimed at integrating remote sensing, GIS, and field survey techniques on the 15th of February 2024.



The Department of Geography conducted a field survey on February 16, 2024, to the Dunumadalawa Forest Reserve in Kandy, Sri Lanka. This field survey served as a vital component of the GIS in Land Use Planning course curriculum for fourth-year B.Sc. in GIS students.



 



The Department of Geography at the University of Peradeniya is thrilled to announce the successful completion of the AHEAD World Bank project, which has significantly enhanced our teaching and research capabilities.



In our recent field visit to the Wasgamuwa National Park (WNP), as a fieldwork component of GIS 3110 Biogeography 3000 level, on the 11 th of October 2023.



The team members of the Erasmus+ CBHE project University Network for Disaster Risk Reduction in Indian Ocean Rim (UN4DRR) visited the PGIHS, University of Peradeniya on October 5-7, 2023, during the final event.

 



A field visit was organized as part of the GGY 4066 Geographies of Development course on the 16th of September 2023.
The course coordinator Prof. Fazeeha Azmi, Dr. M.M. Alikhan, R.M.N.T.S Rathnayake, L.D.N.N Jayawardnena and Ms. Rashada Raufdeen planned the fieldwork.



A recent field visit to the Moragahakanda Dam and Resettlement Areas by final-year students from the Department of Geography at the University of Peradeniya was an enlightening and transformative experience. Under the guidance of Professor Thilak Bandara, the Head of the Geography Department.



On September 18, 2023, final-year students of the Department of Geography at the University of Peradeniya embarked on a field visit to explore the Upper Watershed Management Project Sites, situated in the heart of the Uma Oya basin.
