Biography:

Mrs. Arularasi Balakrishnan is a Human Geographer, recruited as a Lecturer at the Department of Geography, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in 2008. She was born in Jaffna peninsula in Sri Lanka and completed her junior education at Uduvil Girls College in Jaffna.  After completing Grade Ten, she moved to Jaffna Hindu Ladies College and continued Biology stream in her Advanced Level. In 1995, she was displaced from Jaffna and joined at Puthukkudiyiruppu Central College in Mullaithivu district for her Advanced Level education in Arts stream. She sat for the A/L examinations in 1997 and obtained first rank with the highest aggregate from Mullaitivu district in that year. She entered to the University of Peradeniya in 2000 with Island merit. She was selected to read for special degree in Geography in 2001 and obtained first Class in 2004. Also, she won a Gold Medal and Two awards for the greatest competence at the convocation in 2004. Due to her greatest competence, she was recruited as Assistant Lecturer to the same department in 2005.
