Ven. Dr. Bamunugama Shanthawimala is a Senior Lecturer and the Head of the Department. and has B.A.honours from University of Peradeniya Sri Lanka, M.A. from University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka and Ph.D. from University of Banaras, India. Venerable Shanthawimala teaches and researches Buddhist Philosophy and other world religions,Social and Political issues,Buddhist Monasticism and Pali

 

Ven. Prof. Muwaetagama Gnanananda is the professor of Pali and Buddhist Studies. He has received B.A. (Hons.) Peradeniya, M.A. (PGI of Pali and Buddhist Studies) Kelaniya, M.Phil. (Peradeniya), Ph.D. (Delhi), and PG Dip. In Counseling (University of Colombo) Ven. Gnanananda teaches and researches on Pali language and literature and origins of Mahayana Buddhism..

 

 

 

Ven. Prof. Kotapitiye Rahula is a Senior Lecturer, and has B.A. Honours and M.A. from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Ven. Rahula teaches and researches on Pali language and literature and Abhidhamma studies.

 

Mr. R.G.D. Jayawardena is a Senior Lecturer, and has B.A. and M.A. from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. Mr. Jayawardena teaches and researches on the history of Buddhism and Buddhist art and culture.

 
Mr. Sumana Ratnayaka is a Senior Lecturer, and has B.A. Honours from University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, and M.Litt. from University of Oxford, U.K. Mr. Ratnayaka teaches and researches on early Buddhism, Buddhist philosophy, and Pali.
 
Professor Emeritus of Pali and Buddhist Studies P.D. Premasiri (Retired in December 2006). He holds B.A. Honours from University of Ceylon, B.A. Honours and M.A. from the Cambridge University, U.K., and Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii, U.S.A. Professor Premasiri teaches and researches on Buddhist philosophy, Buddhist ethics, Buddhist psychology, comparative studies on Buddhism and Western philosophy and religions, and Pali.
 
Prof. P.B. Meegaskumbura - Emeritus professor of linguistic
 
Dr. H.M. Mahinda Herath - is a Senior Lecturer, and has B.A. and Ph.D from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. His research interest is pali Studies.
 
Ven. Dr. Muthukeliyawe Indarathana - is a Senior Lecturer and venerable has earned B.A. and Ph.D from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. His research interest is pali Studies.  
 
Mr. D.M. Kasun Dharmasiri- is a Probationary Lecturer, B.A. (Hons.) in Buddhist Studies, University of Peradenya, M.A in Buddhist Studies, Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies, University of Kelaniya, M.Phil. in Buddhist Studies, University of Peradeniya , Sri Lanka. His research interest is Buddhist Psychology, Buddhism and current social problems.

 

 

Temporary Lecturers

 

Mr. Dinidu Sathsara Basnayake - is a temporary lecturer of the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies. He holds BA Degree and his research area is Buddhist Studies.
