PHY 304 - Buddhism & Indian Philosophy

The major philosophical systems of Buddhism and Indian thought are discussed. The attitude to nature, and theories of the ultimate Reality will be examined. The techniques propounded in Buddhist and Indian philosophical system will be clarified and analysed in a comparative manner.

  • Bhagavad-Gita, Early Buddhism. Madhyamika and Yogacara Systems
  • Philosophy and Ethics of the Six systems of Indian Philosophy: Samkhya, Yoga, Nyaya, Vaisesika
  • Purvamimasa and Uttaramimamsa.Visista Advaita
  • Saiva Siddhanta
  • Contemporary Indian Philosophy
