Biography


     Thushari N Vidanage serves as a Senior Lecturer (Grade II) in the Department of Economics and Statistics. She holds a doctorate in Economics from Griffith Business School, Griffith University, Australia, an M.Phil and a B.A. (Honours-Special) in Economics from the Department of Economics & Statistics, University of Peradeniya. She teaches Financial Economics, Money, Banking & Financial Markets and Sri Lankan Economy. Her research mainly includes in the field of Financial Economics, International Trade and Investment and Monetary Economics. She has published several research papers in international peer-reviewed journals, and presented few research papers in national and international conferences.

  • 2007 - P.D. Khan Gold Medal for best results in B.A. Economics 2007- University of Peradeniya.
  • 2007 - Gate Mudaliyar N. Canaganayagam Birth Centenary Memorial Prize for Best results in Economics -2007 University of Peradeniya.
  • 2007- Was a team member, which won the status of “Best Thematic Paper” at the 4th South Asian Economics Students’ Meet, organized by the Department of Economics of the University of Colombo, 2007.
  • 2005 - First Prize for the Best Academic Speech at the International Students' Speech Contest in Japanese, Saga University, Japan.
  • 2004 - Was the annual Exchange Student of Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya for Saga University- SPACE program (2004/2005), Japan.
  • 1999- Obtained the First rank in University Entrance Examination - GCE (A/L) Arts Stream.
