Advanced Certificate Course in Counseling Psychology
Introduction
The Advanced Certificate Course in Counseling Psychology is offered by the Department of Psychology, University of Peradeniya, as a weekend academic program ,from June 2021 .This is the second step of the Diploma in Counseling Psychology Program.
Aim
To address the lack of training needs of individuals providing effective mental health related services in Sri Lanka.
Objectives
- To provide knowledge and practical training in intermediary counseling skills.
- To provide knowledge in selected themes of Psychology, specifically related to counseling.
- To cultivate greater sensitivity towards human beings and respect for cultural diversity, differences and human values.

Admission Requirements
- A special degree ,BA (Hons) in Psychology at the Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya OR
- Completed the “Certificate Course in Psychology and Basic Counseling Skills” offered by the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya. OR
- Equivalent professional qualification in counseling, acceptable to the Department of Psychology as per the university regulations pertaining to the Certificate Course in Psychology and Basic Counseling Skills.
Calling for Applications
The application process starts at the 05th month of every ongoing batch. (Starting from June 2021)

The Advanced Certificate Course in Counseling Psychology program consists of the following components:

- Direct contact/ Lectures – 80 Hours
- Practical – 80 Hours
