Annual Field Study 2022/2023 – 26th & 27th December 2024

The Annual Field Study for the 2022/2023 academic batch, organized by the Department of Pali and Buddhist Studies, was held on 26th and 27th December 2024. This educational excursion was designed to provide valuable insights into the historical, philosophical, and cultural evolution of Buddhism.

Through visits to key sites and active engagement with local practices, students gained a deeper understanding of how Buddhism has adapted over time, blending its ancient teachings with regional traditions. The field study offered an opportunity to observe how core Buddhist principles—such as the Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, compassion, mindfulness, and the pursuit of enlightenment—have been interpreted and practiced in diverse cultural contexts.

The experience enriched students’ academic learning by connecting classroom theory with lived heritage. It also deepened their appreciation of the richness and complexity of Buddhist thought, and its continuing relevance in the modern world.
