Image

On November 3, 2023, students from the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya, embarked on an enriching field visit to Rathnapura and Kuragala. This educational journey aimed to connect theoretical learning with practical experiences by delving into the philosophical, historical, and cultural significance of these renowned locations.

Kuragala, an ancient Buddhist monastery and archaeological site, served as a focal point of the visit. Here, students explored the intersection of philosophy, religion, and history, engaging in discussions on ancient practices, belief systems, and their relevance to modern philosophical thought. The site provided a unique backdrop for examining the rich intellectual and spiritual heritage of Sri Lanka.

This field visit offered students an invaluable opportunity to deepen their understanding of philosophical concepts through hands-on exploration. It inspired curiosity, fostered meaningful engagement, and strengthened their appreciation for the cultural and philosophical legacy of the nation.
