Field visit to Trincomalee
As part of their Philosophy of Religion course, students of the Department of Philosophy embarked on an enlightening field visit to Trincomalee.
During the visit, which took place in 2024 students had the opportunity to explore various religious institutions representing Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity. This included visits to prominent places of worship, such as Buddhist temples, Hindu kovils, Islamic mosques, and Christian churches.
This field visit allowed students to engage directly with diverse religious practices, philosophies, and worldviews, enriching their understanding of religious diversity and interfaith dialogue. Students observed rituals, engaged with religious leaders, and reflected on the philosophical underpinnings of each faith tradition.
The visit was a valuable experience for students, offering a unique opportunity to connect theory with practice and deepen their appreciation for the complexity of religious belief systems.
A degree in philosophy provides versatile skills that are highly sought after in many fields, including law, education, public policy, business, and even the arts. Philosophy graduates excel in roles requiring problem-solving, communication, and ethical decision-making.
