World Philosophy Day 2023: Exploring Eastern and German Philosophical Connections

On November 16, 2023, the Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya, celebrated World Philosophy Day with an engaging symposium at the Arts Faculty Seminar Room. The event focused on the theme, *"Inter-Philosophical Relationship between Eastern Philosophy and German Philosophy (on Selected Themes),"* offering a platform for intellectual exploration and dialogue.


The symposium attracted students, faculty members, and philosophy enthusiasts, who gathered to examine the profound connections between Eastern and German philosophical traditions. Through discussions on shared themes like ethics, metaphysics, and epistemology, participants explored the mutual influences of these traditions, enriching their understanding of diverse philosophical perspectives.

This celebration underscored the Department's dedication to fostering cross-cultural dialogue and expanding the boundaries of philosophical inquiry. By delving into the intersections of different traditions, the event highlighted philosophy’s timeless role in addressing contemporary issues and encouraging meaningful global discourse.
