The Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree program is one of the oldest degree programs of the Faculty of Arts, which was commenced in 1962. Students from the Advanced Level Arts stream have been enrolled in the B.Com. degree program since its commencement. The B.Com. the degree program was initially offered under the purview of the Department of Economics, Commerce & Statistics until the Department of Management Studies was created, in the Faculty of Arts, in 2002. The Department of Management Studies exercised its mandate to offer the B.Com. degree program since then until the Department of Management Studies was transferred to the newly created Faculty of Management, at the University of Peradeniya in 2015. Since then, the Faculty of Management has been teaching the B.Com. program with many improvements to it. As of today, the Faculty of Management has been dedicated to providing the highest quality teaching program for the B.Com. degree whilst it is administered by the Faculty of Arts.
