About Me

A committed Administrative and Academic Officer with over 16 years of experience (From 1999 to 2015) at the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka as the Founder and the First Dean of the Faculty of Geomatics, Head of Department and the Coordinator of the Industrial Training Unit of the Faculty. Further, a Senior Lecturer in teaching and conducting practical of Geomatics related professional and technical courses such as GIS including Web GIS, Mobile GIS and Open Source GIS, GNSS including GPS, Land Surveying, Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing in addition to the Mathematics for undergraduate students from various social and cultural backgrounds. The development the Faculty of Geomatics in the context of human and physical resources especially staff development as upgraded recruited staff to 08 PhD holders & 10 MSc holders and established a new Faculty with a new building complex are major achievements as the administrative and academic head of the Faculty of Geomatics in the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka. Further, a Visiting Lecturer with over 09 years of experience at Postgraduate Institutions in Sri Lanka and Geoinformatics Centre, Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand teaching Microwave Remote Sensing for Postgraduate Students and Professionals and supervising research of postgraduate students. Over 12 years of executive level experience as an Assistant Superintendent of Surveys (From 1986 to 1998) for supervising about 10 field surveyors with their crews and Land Information System (LIS) Branch. Also worked as the Superintendent of Surveys in Kegalle District Survey Office and the Deputy Surveyor General’s Office of Central Province in the Survey Department of Sri Lanka. Over 05 years of Mathematics teaching experience as a Graduate Teacher for the Grade 6 to Grade 13 (Age 11 years to 18 years of students) in the Department of Education, Sri Lanka. Having acquired excellent administrative and academic skills along with constructive and effective teaching methods over 32 years that promote stimulating learning environment, able to work in a senior academic, administrative and executive levels and having the proven ability to successfully work to tight schedules and deadlines. I am currently looking for suitable senior administrative, executive or academic positions in academic or professional institutions to work by getting entitled Sabbatical Leave from my present permanent working place. Further, I would like to serve as a member of relevant professional and educational Councils, Boards and Committees.
