The Launching Ceremony of Hanthana Philosophy Circle Blog site was successfully held on 02nd March, 2023 at the Audio Visual Room of Department of Philosophy. The aim of launching the WordPress blog is to culminate a generation of academically driven undergraduates, graduates and various scholars and to popularize philosophy among the general populace.
The Department of Philosophy, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya, celebrated the World Philosophy Day on the 17th of November 2022, at the Faculty Seminar room from 09.00 a.m. onwards. It was headed under the theme of 'Philosophy and human of the future'. The event was graced with the presence of Prof. M.D. Lamawansa, the Vice-Chancellor, University of Peradeniya, Dr. Prabath Ekanayake, the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Prof. S.A.M. Kularathne, the Chair of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine. The Academic staff members of the Department of Philosophy conducted sessions on several philosophical themes.

The Department of Philosophy, University of Peradeniya had the honor of organizing a commemorative lecture for Senior Lecturer Ven. Alpitiye Gnanissara with the presence of many distinguished scholars. The event was held on 13th of September, 2022, at the Seminar Room, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya. The former Dean, Faculty of Arts and Head of the Department Prof. R. D. Gunarathne, Professor of Philosophy, presented the keynote speech. The event was graced with the presence of Dr. Prabath Ekanayake, the Dean Faculty of Arts.
The workshop on 'How to Apply Philosophy in Psychiatric Social Work' organized by CIVCO in collaboration with the Department of Philosophy, University of Peradeniya was successfully held on the 29th August, 2022, at the Audio Visual Room, Department of Philosophy with the contribution of expertise provided by Ms. W.
