Samanmala Dorabawila is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Peradeniya (UOP), Sri Lanka. She was the Head of the Department of Law at the same University from 2016 – 2020. She was the Chair of the Board of Studies on Economics and Management for the Post Graduate Institute of Humanities and Social Science, UOP from 2021 - 2024. She was a Visiting Scholar at American University Washington, D.C and completed the Graduate Certificate on Gender Analysis in Economics. She completed an Intensive Course in Gender-Sensitive Macroeconomic Modeling for Policy Analysis at Levy Economics Institute of Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, NY, USA in June 2021. She received her M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics from Clark University, MA, USA and her M. Sc. in Applied Statistics from Postgraduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya. Her research interest lies in labour, gender, health, and development economics. Currently, she functions as a member of the Erasmus+ CBHE project on Inclusive Education for Students with Disability in Higher Education. At the same time, she is a member of an American (Gendered Social Accounting Matrix for Sri Lanka) and European (An assessment of Gender-based Domestic Violence in Sri Lanka) funded projects and was the Faculty coordinator of a World Bank funded project, IDAS-HETC for the Faculty of Arts, UOP. She has taught Health Economics, Development Economics, Microeconomics, Gender Analysis in Macroeconomics and Microeconomics, (for M.A. Students) and Resource Economics, Basic Statistics, Advanced Statistics, Labor economics, Urban Economics, Pharmacoeconomics, Health Economics, Advanced Microeconomics, Business Economics and Business Mathematics (for Undergraduate internal and online students)
