About Me

Saminda Gnanaratne was born in Kandy and completed school education at the Kingswood College Kandy as the best all-around student of the year 2006. He entered the University of Peradeniya in 2007 and completed his special degree in Sociology in 2011. He awarded HILMI MANZIL MEMORIAL PRIZE FOR SOCIOLOGY (Greatest Competence in Sociology) in Special Arts Degree Examination – 2010/2011 and DR& MRS STANLEY G. ABEYSINGHE MEMORIAL GOLD MEDAL IN SOCIOLOGY(Greatest Competence in Sociology) in Special Arts Degree Examination – 2010/2011. After his graduation, he joined Plan International and worked as a project assistant. In 2013 he joined the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts, UOP as a temporary assistant lecturer and got his permanent position as a probationary lecturer in 2017. In Addition to that, he completed his master of Philosophy degree in Sociology in 2022 and at present, he is working as a senior lecturer in Sociology at the Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya
