Organized by the Student Counselling Unit, Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya

Held on February 10, 2025, at the Department of Education

This program was conducted under the guidance of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Prabhath Ekanayake, as an initial step in preparing temporary lecturers for their future roles as Volunteer Student Counselors. The workshop received the full support and contribution of the Senior Student Counselors of the Faculty of Arts, led by Chairperson Mr. Saminda Gnanaratne.

The inauguration session was graced by:

The program included several insightful sessions conducted by esteemed resource persons who are specialists in the field:
Dr. Sapumal Jayasinghe – Consultant Psychiatrist
Dr. Asanka Bulathwaththa – Head, Department of Psychology
Prof. Danesh Karunanayake – Professor in Psychology, Department of Psychology
Dr. Sayuri Perera – Senior Lecturer, Department of Psychiatry, Faculty of Medicine
Dr. Dulmini Perera – Head of Counselling, Arts Alumni Association
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ranjith Pallegama, joined at the conclusion of the workshop, offering valuable insights that will greatly benefit our young academics in their careers.

This workshop marks the beginning of a series of similar initiatives planned for this year.
