   Extension Course: English for Professionals
(Certificate Course in English)

Saturdays or Sundays 8:30 AM - 2:00 PM

Taught at Three Levels: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced (Based on a Selection/Placement Test)

Duration: 6 Months (100 hours)
Expected to start in April 2024
Course Fee: Rs. 20,000/-
Application Processing Fee : Rs. 250/-

Who can apply?
Those with 'S' or above for English at GCE (0/L) Examination or any other equivalent qualification in English (Those who are currently enrolled in any English Language Programme as internal students at the University of Peradeniya or who are still attending school are NOT eligible to apply for this course.)

Special Note: The applicants are expected to have active email accounts, as all correspondence will be via email. The applicants are NOT expected to make any payment until they are instructed, via email, to do so.

   Prof. Lesley Gunawardena Scholarship for Needy Students

Applications are called for registered internal students of the Faculty of Arts, University of Peradeniya for the above scholarship.

Requirements:

  • The Annual Income of the family should be less than Rs. 200,000/= (the income report should be signed by the Grama Niladari and certified by the Divisional Secretary.
  • If the mother/father/guardian is suffering from an illness, a medical certificate should be provided. In case of a deceased parent/ guardian the death certificate should be provided.
  • The applicant should have passes all courses offered for the particular academic year with at least a "C" grade for each subject taken for two semesters.

Timeline for the 2025 Fall Student Exchange Program

  1. Nomination : Mar. 31 - May 15
    • Please nominate the students using the nomination link below

      Please note that outside business, humanities and social sciences courses, number of English courses is very limited. Students from engineering, sciences etc. should have flexibility with the number and types of courses during their exchange period to come to Dongguk.
  2. Online Application : May. 15 - May. 30
    • Students should complete online application on our website by themselves.
    • Application form link will be delivered to the nominated students. Please make sure their emails our written correctly on the nomination forms and have them check their emails regularly. Late applications will not be accepted.
    • The courses attached in the factsheet are not confirmed yet. They are subject to change and will be confirmed one month before the semester begins.
